Live animal traps need to be placed in areas frequented by the target pest. Once a spot is found, make sure that you secure the trap in place with a weighted object.

What bait should I use for a small animal live trap?

The type of bait you use varies depending on the small animal you’re trying to capture. You can find a bait list for target pests such as chipmunks, rats, weasels, squirrels, skunks, raccoons, and more by downloading the Kage-All instructions.

Where do I place bait in a small animal live trap?

The bait for a live animal trap should be placed at the far end of the trap, opposite the entry door. This placement helps to ensure that the pest cannot easily steal the bait and that the pest is lured further into the trap.

How often should I check my small animal live trap?

Once trapped, an animal can become stressed in a confined setting. It is best to check your live animal trap multiple times a day or at least once daily. There is always the potential that you could capture a non-target animal while the actual pest roams free.
